General Notes: Husband - Joseph B. Martin


He farmed with his father until 1853, when he removed to Manor, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company.
He enlisted during the Civil war in Company E, Sixth Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery, serving until the close of the war, and later became a member of the G. A. R., S. S. Marchand Post, N. 190, Irwin. After his service in the Civil war he was engaged in farming for many years, retiring from active life about 1899. He and wife, as well as their children, were all members of the Presbyterian church. The family were always staunch Republicans, taking a deep interest in public affairs.
