General Notes: Husband - Samuel Laughlin

In the spring of 1843, he, his wife and two children, started from County Down, Ireland, via Belfast, for America. The summer of that year was passed in New York City, and the following autumn found them living in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where many other County Down people had preceded them. For some years he was employed at Clinton and other iron furnaces. He located in Marion Township in April, 1854, on the premises first improved by Mathew Curry.
