General Notes: Husband - Jacob R. Leighty


He was educated in the common schools and was always a farmer. The farm on which he lived was purchased by his father about 1845 or '46 and was known as the "Henry Lowe farm," Mr. Leighty was three years old when the family took up their abode there, and it was his home thereafter. The estate comprised one hundred and eighty-seven acres and was situated one mile south of Ruffsdale in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Leighty's brother John and his sisters Barbara and Anna, resided with him and assist him in the management of the property which was devoted to general farming. The family were members of the Reformed church.
