General Notes: Husband - John M. Stevenson

He was admitted to the bar before the Civil War, and left his practice to aid in suppressing the rebellion. He was commissioned first lieutenant of Battery B, Fourth United States Artillery, and became a member of General Thomas' staff, participating in all the battles of his command. At the battle of Chickamauga he received a shrapnel wound in the lung, from which he never fully recovered, though he survived until 1870.
