General Notes: Husband - Samuel McBride Leslie

He was reared on the farm settled by his great-grandfather in Middlesex Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and attended the public schools of that vicinity. At an early date he went into the oil country and for some ten years worked as an oil driller with good success, his efforts yielding handsome returns, and of this he was enabled to save a goodly part. In 1898 he purchased a farm of 175 acres, 140 of which was under a high state of cultivation. He raised some corn, oats and wheat, but hay was his principal crop, selling some seventy-five tons annually. He kept an average of fifteen head of cattle and fed about twenty-five head of Berkshire hogs, this proving an especially remunerative branch of his business.
He served as school director of Middlesex Township for seventeen years, and as road supervisor for eight years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World.
He and his wife were members of the Bakerstown Presbyterian church. He was a Republican in politics.

He was elected sheriff in November, 1925, and took his office January 4, 1926.
