General Notes: Husband - Jacob Lias
He was born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, where he spent his youth. In the spring of 1831, his mother having died, he came with his father to Wayne township, Armstrong County. Soon after his own marriage they settled on the old home farm which belonged to his father, and there they lived for fifteen years. Then they removed to the farm in the northern part of Cowanshannock township where he farmed and kept a general store. This farm purchased by Mr. Lias consisted of 237 acres of land.
His grandparents on both sides of the house and also his wife's were of German birth or extraction and had followed farming. Mr. Elias' name has been by common usage abbreviated to Lias, and an uncle of his, John Elias, was so called before him.
