General Notes: Wife - Tempa Hazel Beatty

After the death of her husband, she resided at the James Turner Beatty homestead in Rocky Grove with her sister Annetta. One of their biggest excitements was winning a 1949 Ford at the Rocky Grove Fireman's Fair on one single ticket, purchased at the insistence of a friend. The Beattys were a very religious family and did not believe in lotteries. Since neither sister had learned to drive a car they called on friends and relatives to take them out for rides. Their favorite places to visit were the small towns in Venango County in the Cooperstown area. They kept the car for three or four years before it was sold. Tempa died in 1976; she never quite recovered from the loss of her sister Nettie in 1971.
