General Notes: Husband - Thomas McCreary

He was educated in the schools of his native town, and upon arriving at manhood's estate chose agriculture as a lifework, and followed it all his life, also dealing in cattle, sheep, etc., to a considerable extent. By industry and excellent judgment he improved upon the patrimony left him, and became a leading citizen of his community. He at first wielded his franchise under the direction of the Whig party, but later became an earnest Republican, but would never accept office, although very active in the service of his party. Religiously, Mr. McCreary and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian Church, of which he was an elder about forty years.

He served as supervisor, overseer of the poor, and as school director.
