General Notes: Husband - Joseph McCalmont

---

He came to Venango County, PA, with his parents, growing up in Sugarcreek Township. In 1829 he purchased the farm in that township upon which he resided until his death, a tract eight miles from Franklin, near the later location of Valley Mills, comprising 160 acres. He made all the early improvements upon this property, erecting buildings: a house was built in 1855 to replace the old log dwelling and the barn in 1848; the heavy timbers and solid construction of the latter endured unimpaired for over half a century of use.
