General Notes: Husband - Dr. William Bachop

After passing through the public schools and the West Barnett Academy he was graduated from the medical department of Dartmouth College about 1836 with the degree of M. D. The entire period of his practice was spent in Allegheny City and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and in connection with his medical work he also completed a course in dentistry, afterward engaging in the practice of that profession. His active career covered a period of more than thirty-five years. He appears to have been a man not only of deep scholarship but of many accomplishments. He was a great lover of music and became remarkably proficient on the bass viol, playing on that instrument in the Pittsburg Presbyterian Church. The instrument which he then used and loved was treasured as a family keepsake by his son, John C.
He was a life long member of the United Presbyterian Church and in politics he was a Republican but neither held nor desired public office.
