General Notes: Husband - David Barnhart Zillafro

Rixford, McKean Co, PA

He received his early education in the public schools, and then purchased and cultivated a farm in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, until the outbreak of the civil war, when he enlisted, September 10, 1861, in the Eleventh Pennsylvania Cavalry, and served until November, 1864, when he was honorably discharged. He was severely wounded in the neck, cheek and shoulder at the battle of Stony Creek, June 2, 1864, and was taken prisoner and confined in Petersburg and then in Libby prison and eventually exchanged. After the close of hostilities he returned to Clarion county and resumed the management of his farm until 1866, when he removed to Missouri and cultivated a farm until 1868, when he returned to Clarion County and farmed until 1879, in which year he took a position as gauger with the Tide-water Pipe Company and remained continuously with the company until November, 1911, when he was retired on a pension. He was an Independent in politics, and was a member of the United Brethren church.
