General Notes: Husband - William R. Colbert


He learned the hatter's trade with his father, and was connected with him in business until he stopped the manufacture of hats. He then engaged in engineering, having charge of stationary engines at Pittsburgh, Butler and other points.
He joined the Presbyterian church at the age of eighteen years. In politics, he was identified with the Whig party up to the formation of the Republican party, at which time he became a supporter of the latter organization.
