General Notes: Husband - Edwin C. Long


He attended Washington and Jefferson College, but left prior to graduation. When the Spanish-American war came on, he enlisted from the college he was attending, as a private soldier for one year and was promoted to second lieutenant and served as such two years in the Philippine Islands, came home and was promoted to first lieutenant, and was stationed at San Francisco, California. He was appointed by President McKinley.

He was a Lieutenant in Co. I., 54th Regt., U. S. Inf. Vol.
