General Notes: Husband - Abel Holmes

He [John Holmes] was born in Chenango County, New York. He died at Oxford, Chenango Co, New York. [PAH-NW, 16]

He was a farmer by occupation and was a member of the Universalist church.

He had eight children by his first wife, and ten by his second wife.

General Notes: Wife - Esther [Unk]

The birth and death dates here given for her may actually be those of Abel Holmes' second wife. Other articles about the history of this family suggest that the first Mrs. Holmes died when her son John was about nine years old (about 1800?).
