He and his wife were both natives of Indiana County, Pennsylvania, he was born in Indiana, and his wife was born two miles above that city, where their marriage was celebrated. He became a prominent farmer and tan­ner of Clarion County, was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Corsica, and was an ardent supporter of the Republican party.
