Kenneth F. Lusher
The body of Kenneth F. Lusher, 55, was laid to rest Saturday afternoon in the Rockland Cemetery, beside the graves of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. C. Lusher.
The deceased, the youngest son in a family of three boys and two girls, was born in Akron, O., but most of his early life was spent at Davis' Corners, Rockland, and the section of the cemetery, where the interment was made, was once a part of the Lusher farm.
Rev. B. E. Coleman, of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church, who was his pastor for the several years when he lived in Franklin, conducted the funeral services in the Burger Funeral Home at 2 p. m. and also the committal service. He read several appropriate passages of Scripture, the hymns, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," "Rock of Ages" and Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar."
The pallbearers were Roy and George Lusher, Dale R. and Robert L. McDaniel, Frank Siefer and Charles H. Griswold.
In recent years, Mr. Lusher had made his home with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Reeser, in Mogadore, O. He had gone to Houston, Tex., to spend the winter. Mildred L. DeWoody, worked at News-Herald
Mrs. Mildred DeWoody, 83, former Rocky Grove resident and former member of The News-Herald news staff, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday at her residence, 1929 S.E. 44th Terrace, Gainesville, Fla.
She was born Mildred McDaniel in Rocky Grove May 25, 1900 and in her early years was adopted by a Kinch family.
After graduation from Rocky Grove High School she was employed by The News-Herald and spent 29 years in newspaper work. She conducted a Rocky Grove news column but was also a general reporter and for a time was telegraph editor. In his late years she assisted the late James B. Borland, founder of the newspaper, with a daily column and later continued the column under the heading of The Founder's Column.
"Millie," as she was familiarly known, was active in Rocky Grove activities. Just as she tried to continue the spirit of the newspaper founder, she was compelled to keep the community spirit alive that had been instilled by the late "Uncle" Cy Phipps, early Rocky Grove leader and her predecssor as the Rocky Grove news reporter.
Later she worked at Polk Center and at the Evangelical Home in Lewisburg and for nearly 10 years at the Sunland Home in Gainesville.
She was married to John P. DeWoody on Aug. 12, 1950 and they moved to Florida in 1956.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Gainesville.
Surviving are her husband and a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Robert (Margaret Lusher) Urey of Clarkston, Ga., and by four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday from the Johnson Hayes Funeral Home in Gainesville.

Rocky Grove.
EDITOR OF ROCKY GROVE NEWS IS NOW A BRIDE
Steals March on Fellow Workers, Fails to Report for Work and Phones, "You Write It."
Everything was in a flutter and a flurry around The News-Herald office this morning and things weren't back to normal this afternoon.
It wasn't a wreck, or an accident, or an explosion - but it was a surprise that made every member of The News-Herald stop and gasp for breath, and then hasten to extend good wishes and congratulations.
If the Rocky Grove news appears abbreviated or the proof reading doesn't seem what it used to be, then there is just one reason. Miss Mildred Modena Kinch, who has been a member of the staff since the spring of 1917, stole a march on her friends late Wednesday evening, at 9:45 o'clock, when she became the bride of Kenneth Francis Lusher, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Lusher, of Rockland.
The ceremony took place in the First Evangelical church, Rev. B. E. Coleman officiating. The ring ceremony was used, and Rev. and Mrs. Coleman were the only witnesses. The bride wore a suit of romaine in two shades of brown, with hat to match.
The bride is perhaps one of the best known and most energetic members of The News-Herald staff. In addition to taking care of the Rocky Grove news, she has been an invaluable assistant in the news department, helping "cover" many of the assignments which are part of the week's work in newspaper offices of this size, and in addition the proof reading has been under her direction.
The bridegroom is employed in the machine shop of the Eclipse Works of the Atlantic Refining Co.
The young couple will make their home at 7 Gilfillan street, Rocky Grove, with the bride's mother, Mrs. W. J. Kinch.
If ever there was a real, live booster for Rocky Grove, then it was this young woman who has now started out on a new venture, with the boundless good wishes of a host of friends. In real newspaper fashion she has handled every task assigned to her, but it must be said that in one great assignment she fell down completely. She "renigged" on writing her own wedding, she said, but the other members of the staff were glad to help pay the compliments which they had been thinking about all along, but which they never put down in writing.

The cause of divorce was Cruel & Barbarous Treatment, Indignities, and Desertion.
