Merle Lusher, daughter of Mina D. and Ray Lusher, was born in Wayne county, near Cambria, March 6, 1899, and died at her parents home, south of Cambria, October 8, 1906; aged 7 years, 7 months and 2 days. She was one of two children, the other having preceed her to the heavenly land. For more than six months past she has almost been a constant sufferer, yet through it all she was kind and patient.
About two weeks before her death she had her papa and mamma sing "Dear to the Heart of the Shepherd" and other hyms she loved so well, and she sang with them. She dearly loved the bible, and a few evenings since, she had her mama read the whole book of Matthew to her without stopping. She loved her Savior and told her mama that she had prayed to God about being sick and that if He though best for her to be so it was all right.
The funeral was held Wednesday at 2:00 p. m., in the M. E. church at Cambria, the pastor, Rev. E. L. Stone, preached the sermon. The remains were interred in the Cambria Cemetery.
