General Notes: Husband - John J. Weaver

He was reared at home and acquired his educational training in the public schools of his native town and at Duff's Business College, of Pittsburgh. At the age of seventeen he entered into his first regular employment with the firm of Stark Brothers, contractors, of Greensburg. After some months work, he severed his connection with the firm in order to attend school. In 1889 he entered into employment for the firm of Kelly & Jones, where he worked a few months. He went to school for a short time but, not finding his surroundings congenial, left and went to work with his father, and later accepted a position in the general store of L. G. & S. H. Bartz, of South Greensburg, Pennsylvania. In 1891 he worked for one year for Kelly & Jones, working in the brass finishing department. He resigned this position to attend business college, and took a course in Duff's College, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After finishing his course in this institution he returned to South Greensburg and entered into the employ of Kelly & Jones again, working in the carpenter department. After eighteen months service in this department he was transferred to the timekeeper's office, and five years later was promoted to the head of the cost department.
In politics he was a staunch Republican, and took a deep and lasting interest in the affairs of that organization. He was also interested in educational matters, served two terms as a member of the school board of South Greensburg, four years as secretary and two years as the president of that organization. At the age of twenty-one he was elected town clerk, serving one term. In 1903 Mr. Weaver was elected to the office of justice of the peace. He was a consistent member of the First Baptist Church of South Greensburg, was a member of the executive committee and president of the brotherhood. He was a member of Westmoreland Lodge, No. 840, I. O. O. F., past officer, and was representative to the grand lodge in 1902. He was also a member of Westmoreland Camp, No. 180, W. O. W.
