General Notes: Husband - Joseph S. Bailey

He was born on the farm in Robinson Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and after completing his education in the common schools of the township, engaged in agricultural pursuits on the home farm, where he and his sister Rachel spent their entire lives. The farm, which consisted of 102 acres, was inherited by the three children of William Bailey, who continued to own the land between them, and they also inherited another farm of forty-two acres from the father. Joseph S. Bailey engaged in dairying in connection with his farming interests and shipped his produce to Pittsburgh from Midway. He kept about twenty head of cattle and made a specialty of raising Holsteins.
He was politically a Democrat and served several years as auditor, and he also served as judge and inspector of elections.
