General Notes: Husband - George Marburger

About 1838 the Marburger family emigrated to the United States and settled at Zelienople in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Later they removed to Evans City.

The family went on foot from Hessen to the sea, six horses carrying their baggage; they were on the Atlantic Ocean for sixty-four days and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland, from whence they made the journey on foot to Zelienople, Pennsylvania. Their entire trip took from May to December, and was one re-plete with trials and hardships. Others from the same locality in Germany also settled in the vicinity of Zelienople.

He came to America [from Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany?] and settled in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he survived until the unusual age of 103 years. His longevity was remarkable, but no less so was his strength and activity, and when 101 years old he still cut his own timber and busied himself in manufacturing splint baskets.
