General Notes: Husband - Jean Marchand

The earliest known ancestor of this family is Jean Marchand, of Sonvillier, canton of Berne, Switzerland. The records of that place show the name to be the most numerous and one of the most ancient there. There is every reason to believe the tradition that the original Marchands, of Sonvillier, were Huguenots and were driven from France at or prior to the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes by Louis XIV, October 18, 1685.
