General Notes: Husband - Charles Christian Scholl

He was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and in 1797 emigrated to Rochester, New York, where he built two grist mills. In 1800 he fashioned a rude canoe out of a tree trunk, which was trough-like, in which he journeyed down the Allegheny river to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and thence on the Monongahela river and the Sewickley creek to Westmoreland County, where he built a grist mill on the Jacob Markle farm in South Huntingdon township, where he married. About 1817 he removed to what became known as the Scholl farm in South Huntingdon township, and in 1818 built the stone house which burned down January 8, 1864.
During the War of 1812 he served in Gen. Joseph Markle's company and took part in various battles.

In 1801 he built Lobingier's mill at Laurelville, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

He was born in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, and in 1800 removed with his brother Christian to Westmoreland County, settling on the Big Sewickley, in South Huntingdon township. He had a grist mill and farm, which later he sold to his brother-in-law, Jacob Markle, and in 1817 purchased another farm, later the home of his grandson, William L. Scholl. In 1819 he built a stone house on the site of his grandson's later home, erecting a barn the same year. About 1865 or 1866 the house was destroyed by fire, the barn was torn down about 1898. Mr. Scholl worked at his trade of millwright, having a high reputation and an extensive territory. Some of the buildings erected by him were still standing into the twentieth century, one a stone structure which he fitted out at Laurelville in 1801.
During the War of 1812 Mr. Scholl served in Ohio in the cavalry troop commanded by his brother-in-law, Captain Joseph Markle, and he was an active member of the Barren Run Lutheran church.
