General Notes: Husband - David Franklin Bair

He followed his trade in his native county until August, 1880, when he came to Homestead, Pennsylvania, where he became one of the leading contractors and builders.
He was a member of the K. of H., O. U. A. M. and Jr. O. U. A. M., and was a republican. He and his wife were active members of the Presbyterian Church.

He was reared in his native county and educated in its common schools. He served an apprenticeship as a carpenter, worked as a joiner for four years and for several years was engaged in contracting at Greensburg, Pennsylvania. In 1879 he came to Homestead as foreman in the McClean planing mill, where he remained for a number of years, and then became foreman of the carpenter department of the Homestead steel works. After 1900 Mr. Bair followed contracting and building with much success and erected some of the handsomest structures in Homestead. He and his wife were consistent members of the Presbyterian church. Mr. Bair was also a member of the Knights of Honor, the B. P. O. Elks and of the republican party. [MAC i, 559]
