General Notes: Husband - Benjamin Marsteller

He was a native of England and came to America accompanied by his family, settling east of the Allegheny Mountains. Here he followed his trade of blacksmith for a time, then started west to seek a location, going as far as Trumbull County, Ohio, and passing the present site of Pittsburgh where one log cabin was the only sign of civilization. He bought six hundred acres of land at Coitsville, Trumbull County, and returning brought his family there. This land was heavily timbered and he worked at his trade and superintended the clearing of this tract, residing there until his death at the age of ninety-seven years. [HMC 1909, 1019]
