General Notes: Husband - Richard P. Marsteller

After his school days had ended he worked with his father on the farm and also at saw milling until the death of his parents. Still continuing at the old home, he secured the interest of the other heirs, and he later bought ninety acres in Venango County, PA, and eleven acres joining the homestead. During his lifetime he was a stanch and true member of the Methodist church, one of the charter members of the Mt. Hope church, and before the organization of that congregation there he labored in the vicinity as a local minister. In his earlier years he was a member of the old “Know Nothing party,” and was later one of the organizers of the Republican Party in his district in the northern part of Mercer County. He was also a stanch supporter of Prohibition principles. He was drafted for service in the Civil war just before the surrender of Lee, but this occurred too late for service.
