He was a graduate of Westminster College and of the R. P. Seminary of Allegheny, Pennsylvania. He preached principally in Princeton, Indiana, where he had a charge for fifteen years.

He was a clergyman, having a charge in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He and his wife had three daughters and five sons; one son was deceased before 1908.
