General Notes: Husband - David Martin

---

After leaving Ireland, he and his wife, Nancy Ramsey, migrated to Maryland, and then settled in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, for a while. In 1799 they located in Irwin Township, Venango County, on four hundred acre tract which later become the property of his grandson Thomas Martin. David built the first log cabin on the land; his largest stock raising was sheep. He was a weaver by trade, and in his log cabin he spun many yards of cloth for the early settlers and their families.

They must have spent a number of years in Maryland as their sons John and James were young men when they came to Venango County.

He came to Venango County, Pennsylvania, and located on a tract of four hundred acres in Irwin Township, and spent the rest of his life there, he and his wife each living to the age of seventy-eight years.
