Civil War: he enlisted in Company G, 140th P. V. I., and afterward became a member of the Signal Corps.
He drowned in the Appomattox river. Same source: He drowned in the Potomac river. Another source: he was drowned while attempting to cross the James River, in Virginia, on horseback.
