General Notes: Husband - William H. Martin


He received his education in the schools of Butler County, Pennsylvania. He also attended Witherspoon Institute and Rev. W. I. Brugh's School, being graduated from the latter institution in 1878. He began his business career in the oil fields of western Pennsylvania and later entered the law office of Frank M. Eastman, Butler. Mr. Martin was admitted to the bar September 20, 1882, and immediately engaged in practice in Butler, where he remained until 1892, when he engaged in the practice of law at Fairmont, West Virginia. In 1897 he returned to Butler and resumed practiced in that city.
He was a Democrat and was chairman of the Democratic County Committee and a member of the Democratic State Committee. He held membership in St. Paul's Reform Church, was a member of the Tribe of Ben Hur and Protected Home Circle, and belonged to the Woodmen of the World, of which he served as council commander for many years.
