General Notes: Husband - Harry Stacy Mathias

He was born on the farm which later became his own home, and from his second year was brought up by his grandfather, Jacob Mathias, receiving his education in the common schools. After his marriage he worked for three years on the home farm, and in 1896 settled on the farm which became his home. This estate was the property of his grandfather, Jacob Mathias, who allowed to his grandson all that the land produced under the latter's tillage. On his grandfather's death the farm was bequeathed to Mr. Mathias. The latter was a Democrat in politics and a member of the United Baptist church.
