He graduated from Mars high school in 1939, worked after graduation at Wildwood Coal Mine, then at the American Bridge Company and the National Electric Corporation in Ambridge, PA. He was inducted into the U. S. Army in November, 1942, and was promoted through military ranks to Colonel, retiring July 27, 1974.
