He was a soldier in the Civil War; enlisted July, 1862, Co. D, 135th Regt., P. V.; re-enlisted Nov., 1863, Co. A, 61st Regt., P. V. He was wounded at Petersburg April 2, 1865. Congress awarded him a medal for bravery during service.
