General Notes: Husband - John Reed

He was reared in Cecil township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, there receiving his early education. He afterward attended Jefferson College, at Canonsburg, under the preceptorship of Dr. McMillan, during the early history of that institution, graduating in 1806.

He graduated from college when sixteen years old and on November 24, 1821, settled down to farm life in Mt. Pleasant township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he passed the remainder of his days.

Politically he was first a Whig, afterward a Republican; for many years he served as a justice of the peace, and for several terms he was in the State Legislature, and was a county commissioner; for twenty-five years or more he was a member of the Seceder Church at Hickory.
