General Notes: Husband - Charles Baker

He was an itinerant tailor and traveled around among the people, through Butler County, PA, and as far as Pittsburgh, making and mending wearing apparel, which was simple and not by any means costly. Pack-saddles were used to transport goods from place to place, and on one of these he would convey his baggage and utensils to whatever place he was going, frequently stopping at one place for a whole week at a time. To vary the monotony of his life, he sometimes gathered together a few scholars and played the role of school teacher.
