General Notes: Wife - Martha Elizabeth Allison McClean

She received most of her preliminary education at the hands of her cultured father. She attended the Edgeworth Seminary for girls, the old Twinning Seminary at Pittsburgh, and Blairsville (Pennsylvania) College. Her education finished, she remained with her father at his store for some time, and afterward entered the employ of Joseph Horne at his store in Pittsburgh. There she continued to give meritorious service for about five years and came to command a select line of customers. She returned to Noblestown and assisted her father in the management of his store until 1892, and in that year she returned to the employ of Joseph Horne, at Pittsburgh, continuing in that association until 1900.
