John E. DeLong
John Edward DeLong, 77, of Franklin RD 1 died at 5:15 am Thursday in Franklin Hospital.
Born June 21, 1904, at Coal Hill, he was a son of Arthur and Emma Feltenberger DeLong.
In 1924, he was married to the former Francis Baker who preceded him in death July 7, 1942.
In 1944 he married the former Beulah Snow who survives.
Mr. DeLong was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, French Creek Refinery and the H. T. Osborne Co. He also worked as a craneman at Oilwell Supply in Oil City.
He was at one time self-employed as a contractor.
Mr. Delong was a member of the Nicklin United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Mrs. Betty Crawford Bridge of Franklin, Mrs. Alva J. (Naomi) Osborne of Oil City, Mrs. G. B. (Linda) Thomas of Mechanicsburg and Mrs. J. G. (Connie) Thomas of Carlisle; a step-son, Edward Thomas of Salem, Ore; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Annabel) Alex of Winter Haven, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in addition to his first wife were a son, John Lee DeLong who died in 1956, and two brothers, Raymond DeLong and Carl DeLong.
Friends will be received today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home in Franklin.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday in the funeral home with Rev. R. Lee Karns, pastor of Cooperstown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
