General Notes: Husband - Samuel S. McClure


He received a liberal education, and was reared on the farm which he later came to own.
Civil War: he enlisted in 1861 in Company D, 100th Regiment, known as the "Round Head Regiment," and was in active service three years. He was wounded, taken prisoner and confined in Libby prison five months. He was a mem-ber of the G. A. R.; in politics he was a Republican. He was an elder in the United Presbyterian church for several years.
