He early became interested in the oil industry, and followed that business very successfully. In 1884 he purchased the old family homestead. He was an ardent Democrat, and filled various township offices. He was a member of Derrick Lodge, Number 456, K. of P., of Karns City, and was recognized as one of the enterprising and progressive farmers of his township.
