General Notes: Husband - Francis Burdette McConnell

He was born in Bainbridge, Ireland, and was brought by his parents to America July 21st, 1817. In April, 1835, the family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Wm. H. McConnell, with his two sons, Francis B. and Joseph McConnell, started a dry-goods store on Market street. In May, 1858, F. B. McConnell went with his family to Fairfield, Iowa, but did not stay there long, returning to Pittsburgh about 1860, when he again became a partner in the firm of J. and F. B. McConnell on Market street. About 1867 he removed to East Liberty (later East End, Pittsburgh) and carried on the business there under the firm name of F. B. McConnell & Sons. Later he retired from business entirely, but still lived in the East End. F. B. McConnell was all his life a Presbyterian. For many years a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, on his removal to East Liberty he, with his family, united with the East Liberty Presbyterian Church and he was an elder there for thirty years.
