He was a native of Sweden, emigrating from that country to America, where he settled at Gowanda, New York. He was a skilled mechanic, having acquired a thorough knowledge of the cutlery business in his native land, and held the position of fore­man for many years in the Romerax Works. He was a naturalized citizen of the United States, as recorded either in Gowanda or Buffalo, and was a member of the Republican party.
