General Notes: Husband - James McCoy

The McCoys originally dwelt in the Highlands of Scotland, from whence they migrated to Ireland, and lived there for some generations before the first member of the family emigrated to America. They were noted for their great size and physical strength.

He was a native of Ireland, lived in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he died at an old age. He was a weaver by trade. [HBC 1888, 866]

He was born in Ireland, and settled near Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church, and were among the pioneers of Allegheny County. [HAC 1889, 721]

The first of the family of whom we have definite record in America, he was born east of the Allegheny Mountains [in Pennsylvania], and was a weaver by trade. He was also the owner of a farm.
After his death, his widow moved with her children to Independence township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, in 1817. Of their fourteen children, six died at an early age. [GPHBC, 1058]
