General Notes: Husband - John McCrea

He was among the first settlers of Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
He located on a tract in Burrell township in 1774. In the early part of 1777, when his son John was only six months old, they were forced to flee to Wallace's fort, in Westmoreland County, to escape attack by the Indians. Mrs. McCrea hastened to the fort, bearing John, their only child, and her husband remained behind to hide the household furniture, and was closely pursued by the Indians as he hurried to the fort. He died the next day as the result of exhaustion from
over-exertion.

General Notes: Wife - Jane Porter

After the death of her first husband, she returned to Franklin County, Pennsylvania, where she re-married. This family subsequently moved to Uniontown, Fayette County.
