Civil War: He was a member of Co. F, 100th Reg. Pa. Vol. He died of wounds received in the battle of Spottsylvania.

There is a record of George S. McCreary being a member of this company and regiment, mustered in February 26, 1864. He died at Washington, D. C., June 25, 1864, of wounds received in action. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
