General Notes: Husband - Col. John McDowell


He was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer of the Kishacoquillas valley, and was also engaged in mercantile business, after becoming a resident of Mifflin County, having a store at Perrysville (later Milroy). He filled many local offices, and was for at least one term sheriff of Mifflin County, which then included the territory that later became Juniata County.
He and his wife were devoted members of the Presbyterian church.
He held the rank of Colonel in the Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, Militia.
