General Notes: Husband - William A. Smith


He received his education at the schools of the township, and was always engaged in farming. September 17, 1861, he enlisted in Company H, Seventy-eighth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served until November 7, 1864, and was with Gen. Sherman in his march through Georgia. He served the township as constable for two terms, and was assessor, etc. He and his family were members of Harmony United
Presbyterian Church.
