General Notes: Husband - William McGuffey

---

He emigrated to Pennsylvania about 1772, reaching Philadelphia in August, 1774, and settling in the lower part of York County. Soon afterward came the Revolutionary war, and during its continuance Washington often stopped at the family residence. In 1789 he removed with his wife and family to Washington County, Pennsylvani, afterward living on Wheeling creek, a few miles west. He died at the home of his son, Alexander, on the banks of the Shenango, in his ninety-fourth year, his wife having passed away in her ninetieth year. [HMC 1909, 622]
