General Notes: Husband - George McIlvaine

He was born in Vanceville, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he was a farmer and small trader during the active years of his life. His religious affiliations were with the Presbyterian church, and he held strong opinions upon the political questions of the time. At first he gave his active support to the principles of the Whig party, but upon the formation of the Republican party he gave his adherence to that.

He and his wife were cousins; she was the granddaughter of Greer McIlvaine, her husband's uncle.
