He came to America when a young man, but returned to his native land and there married and then returned to America, locating in Middlesex, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He was a stone-cutter by trade and followed contracting for many years, dying at the age of seventy. Politically he was a Democrat. He and his wife were the parents of nine children.
