His father had settled in Plum township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. James removed to Ohio in 1849, and there died. [HBC 1895, 1066]

From Pennsylvania, he removed to Ohio, and from there to the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, where his descendants became numerous.
