General Notes: Husband - William Adams McKean

His boyhood was spent on the old home farm in Darlington Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, where he attended the district schools and took part in the usual social life of the neighborhood. He assisted his father on the home farm until 1899, when the latter purchased a farm from the Sproatt estate; this farm was ninety-five and one-half acres and was located in Little Beaver Township, Lawrence County, near the Ohio State line. The son came to Little Beaver Township and took charge of it. The place had been neglected by former tenants and there was a large amount of hard work awaiting him before he could get the farm into satisfactory condition. He carried on general farming there and through good management and much improving made his land productive and the property exceedingly valuable.
In politics he was a stanch Republican, was frequently been called upon to fill office, and served multiple terms as constable and was assessor and tax collector. He had other interests in the area and was a stockholder in the Enon Valley Telephone Company.
